The Yellowscope Story

A strange combination

We never expected to see any crossover in our careers. After all, engineering and criminology seemed worlds apart! But despite our very different qualifications and industry experiences, we often found ourselves doing the same thing – translating ideas and information that were vague, technical or complex into clear and simple outputs. Often, that clarity and simplicity would emerge after we listened to feedback from someone with a completely different perspective. And, nearly always, tweaks based on that feedback made the final output easier for the intended audience to understand.

An idea started brewing…

Could we help others achieve clarity and simplicity in their work? And could we help inject enough flair and creativity – to help others join their seemingly un-linkable dots – by offering an unconventional mix of perspectives?

We decided to test it out. But first we needed a name…it had to truly reflect our three drivers: clarity, creativity and simplicity. And we think the two elements of our name (“yellow” + “scope”) do just that.

Yellow – the colour of the mind – is often thought to be happy and optimistic. Some even think it enhances vision, builds confidence and encourages communication. But only in the right dose! Too much yellow causes confusion, while too little contributes to rigidity and defensiveness. Meanwhile, the verb “scope” (short for “scope out”) means to look at; to examine; to master; or to figure out.

Our vision was becoming clearer.

We wanted to combine our knowledge and expertise to help others re-balance their focus and generate a sense of clarity.

We also wanted to support them to inject enough yellow to foster their creativity and generate innovative approaches that would resonate with their audiences.

In other words, we wanted to help others achieve simple brilliance.

Our team of handpicked professionals now offer a range of consulting, field and advisory services, across several industries and service categories, to help our clients achieve clarity, creativity and simplicity.
